The fabric used is a traditional Japanese fabric known as kogin. We use a cotton fabric called "Chita momen" from Aichi Prefecture to make our tenugui.
To avoid stressing the fabric, we use old shuttle looms from the Meiji period to weave our products. This method gives the tenugui a unique texture. The fabric is then bleached with a method called wazarashi, where the woven fabric is placed in large pots and gradually bleached by boiling it for four whole days without putting unnecessary stress on the fabric. The result is soft and fluffy fabric that has not been subjected to unnecessary physical stress.
The product dimensions are 35cm×90cm and 36cm×90cm, while sizes of 35cm×100cm and 36cm×100cm are also available for wrapping around the forehead in kendo and other sports.
Very few factories in Japan are able to produce tenugui in full color, and this is one of the products that our company takes the most pride in.
We can produce tenugui featuring any design you like.
This can be sold at souvenir stores, as event merchandise (such as concert merchandise) or movie merchandise, and on the webshops of creative artists.
